Replacing a new heating appliance?

When replacing a new heating or cooling appliance it is very important to properly size the appliance. When the new unit is oversized it will short cycle and increase the maintenance of the product, increase the fuel bills and increase repair costs over the life of the appliance.

The new unit should almost always be smaller than the existing unit. Most contractors size hydronic system (hot water heat) by measuring the existing radiation. This is not the proper way to size the new applaince.
