BTU/Cast Iron Radiation

Directions:

Measure all radiation and determine sq ft radiation. Have Comfort-Calc do your heat loss. Divide the heatloss by the sq ft or radiation. This gives you how many BTU's per sq ft of radiation is required to meet the heat loss.

Enter chart in the second row (BTU) and find a number close to your needs. Go up to the water temperature required.

Example:

80,000 btu Heat loss

480 Sq ft Radiation

80,000/480=166 btu's per sq ft of radiation

This falls between 150 and 170BTU's per sq ft. I would use 175º water temperature.
