How to avoiding short cycling from a small radiant zone

If you are adding a small radiant zone to your home it may cause the boiler to short cycle. Here is a way to avoid the short cycling a buffer tank. Why not use your indirect water heater as a buffer tank? The use of a high mass indirect water tank works best for this idea such as a stone lined tank.

The use of a thermal mixing valve will allow you to reduce the temperature of the water to the radiant floor zone as needed. In slab radiant with good insulation under the floor will usually work less that 110f on the coldest days of the year.
